Twenty Bees Twenty Bees ~ Queen Bee Meritage 2019
To produce the outstanding quality fruit needed to make VQA wine it requires careful attention to detail and years of experience. Our Twenty Bees wines are a celebration of the muddy boots, tired hands, and long days in the vineyards of our passionate Ontario grape growers. The lively expressive nature of these wines illustrates the impact of their hard work and dedication.
Winemaker's Techniques
Our Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot grapes were sourced from our highest quality Niagara vineyards to produce our Queen Bee Meritage. The grapes were gently pressed in pneumatic style presses, transferred to stainless steel tanks and fermented on their skins for 30 days. Each wine was then transferred to a combination of 70% Hungarian and 30% American oak barrels which created soft, toasty notes in the wine. The wine was stored in these barrels for several months before being blended, cold stabilized and bottled.
Tasting Notes
Smoky and rich, this wine shows deep tobacco and earthy characters upfront with cedar spice and ripe dark berry fruit aromas. The palate is rich with medium tannins and lightly peppered black fruits.
Food Pairings
Try this Meritage with Beef Wellington or simply pair with a sturdy aged cheddar cheese.
