Wine Wednesday Featuring Our FRESH Possibilities Sparkling Rosé!
Welcome to Wine Wednesday! Lakeview Wine Co.'s weekly blog post highlighting our favourite VQA wines, food pairings ideas, and more! This week we are featuring our FRESH Possibilities Sparkling Rosé, the perfect wine for celebrating everyday! Our FRESH Possibilities Sparkling Rosé is a delightful blend of everyone's cool climate favourite Riesling (80%) and Gamay Noir (20%).
The FRESH Possibilities Sparkling Rosé offers up refreshing notes of cherry, strawberry, pomegranate and citrus on the nose. The palate echoes with additional notes of raspberry and strawberry jam.
This wine is an excellent example of the Charmat Method utilized for creating a bubbly wine. Unlike the 'Traditional Fermentation', whereby the second fermentation happens in bottle, in Charmat Method it takes place in a large closed pressure tank. Charmat Method sparking wines also go through two fermentations. After the first fermentation (usually in tank), the base wines are placed in another sealed pressure tank and a mixture of yeast and sugar is added to induce the second fermentation. As the tank is sealed, the CO2 produced during the second fermentation cannot escape and is trapped in the wine (i.e. the bubbles). After the second fermentation is complete, the wine is fined and filtered to remove the lees and any other sediment. The wine is then bottled under pressure to preserve the bubbles in the bottle.
Sparkling wines are very versatile when it comes to food pairings and our FRESH Possibilities Sparkling Rosé is no exception to that. The perfect way to start off your day, especially on a Sunday Funday, try pairing it with Maple-candied Bacon! If your looking to add some sparkle to your evening, the FRESH Possibilities Sparkling Rosé adds that little something extra to cocktails. For a refreshing treat, try mixing it to create a Sparkling Mint Rose Wine Cocktail!
