Diamond Estates (TSXV: DWS) is the third largest producer of VQA wines in Niagara, Ontario and is proud of our high-quality wines. Production is centralized in a state-of-the-art facility with a new tasting and retail store. The Company also operates a sales agency division, Kirkwood Diamond Canada (“KDC”) that represents foreign and domestic beverage alcohol suppliers across Canada. As the Company is in a significant growth phase, the team is looking to add a member in the role of Cellar Assistant.

Based in the Niagara region near St. Catharines and reporting to the Lead Cellar Hand & Winemakers, the Cellar Assistant is expected to demonstrate hands on skills to complete all relevant cellar work orders/tasks as directed and/or requested from the winemaking team in a timely, accurate and safe manner. The Cellar Assistant will possess an understanding of government regulations, including MOE, MOL, Food Safety, etc…, have critical thinking/problem solving skills, be able to work independently and contribute positively to the productivity of the winemaking department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Set up pumps and hoses to perform transfers, racking and filling of transport tankers.
  • Operate grape receiving equipment during Harvest such as overhead crane, receiving hopper, crusher de-stemmer and various pumps.
  • Operate Grape presses including filling, programming, emptying and cleaning.
  • Operate various types of filtration equipment such as D.E. filter, Rotary Drum Vacuum filter, Cross Flow filter and Pad Filter.
  • Set up and operate Selective Tartrate Removal System (S.T.A.R.S.)
  • Clean and sanitize all tanks, hoses and equipment after being used.
  • Operate a fork lift and/or articulating boom life when required (if certified).
  • Bring to the attention of Lead Cellar Hand/ Maintenance any equipment that requires attention.

Working Conditions

  • Some travel required to external properties
